Tony and Amanda launched TeAm Dokman as a 'Labour of Love' in 2003. The main idea was to get a group of dance couples together and form a ‘dance family’ where couples have the opportunity to grow and learn as fast as possible in a open, honest, fun and completely non-political environment. The TeAm has always been something that Tony & Amanda love to give their free time to and they enjoy nothing better than to see the TeAm couples getting better and better from practicing together and inspiring each other. Hense the TeAm slogan: 'Together Everyone Achieves More!' Since the beginning the TeAm has been extremely successful.
The idea was never to have control over couples and to this day, and for the future, couples within the TeAm are free to go where they wish. Although within the Netherlands the TeAm provides the opportunity to represent the TeAm name in competitions, couples are completely free to stay with their original studios and with their own teachers should they wish to.
Tony & Amanda provide regular free lectures and workshops for the TeAm as well as opportunities to take lessons with fabulous guest teachers both in Holland and in London. The TeAm have a weekly practice evening in Hilversum, on a Wednesday night. This creates an amazing atmosphere and is designed specifically around the dance calendar in order to help the dancers grow. This happens even when Tony and Amanda are not in Holland!
TeAm couples have many advantages including free coaching, discounts on dance wear including dresses, shoes and much more. TeAm ladies also have the opportunity, should they wish to take it, to have their dresses designed and their image advised by Amanda free of charge.
The new logo of the TeAm represents its success with each star representing TeAm couples who have won their National Championships from Amateur, Senior and Professional Divisions, both in Holland and Worldwide. Tony and Amanda are very proud of their couples and have trained National Champions from more than 10 Countries. Three of these International Champions are also currently part of the TeAm family.
During this difficult time in ballroom dancing it is very important to Tony and Amanda that couples remain ‘Free to Dance’ and they are actively fighting to make this possible for each and every dancer. This is what they would like TeAm Dokman to represent. Tony & Amanda are members of: NDO, NADB, NVAD, WDC, BDC, BDF, UKA, IDTA
